Workshop 2008

Marine Energy Resource Consenting Workshop

On Thursday 4 December AWATEA convened a workshop at the Intercontinental Hotel in Wellington on resource consenting of marine energy projects.  The workshop was attended by over 40 people, including both device and project developers as well as council officers, responsible for processing consent applications.

The workshop was split into two sessions:

  1. Practical experiences
  2. Legal and planning considerations

The registrants heard from a range of speakers, including people involved in the Neptune Power and Crest Energy consents, as well as from the Department of Conservation and some regional authority representatives.

Following the formal presentations a panel discussion was held, in which representatives from the Seafood Industry Council and Royal Forest and Bird Protection Society were involved.  The panel took questions on a range of subjects, mostly related to planning issues..

Below you will find a copy of the workshop programme, the speakers’ presentations and their abstracts and biographies.
