Conference overview
The AWATEA conference is the premier gathering of the marine energy
community in Australasia and the Pacific. For each of the last three years,
the AWATEA conference attracted a large audience of companies,
regulators, politicians, device and project developers, consultants,
contractors and students to hear speakers including the Minister of Energy
with keynote presentations from Canada, Scotland and Australia. Over
the years we have had presentations on themes as diverse as getting
devices in the water to connections to the national grid.
The forthcoming Conference, to be held in the Oceania Room at Te Papa, will be special because, for the first time, it will be a two-day event, featuring:
- the Association’s annual conference on Monday 19 April, with presentations by New Zealand device and project developers, industry participants, regulators, and policy analysts.
- an international day on Tuesday 20 April with up to 18 countries represented and presentations by member countries from the Executive Committee of the Ocean Energy Systems Implementing Agreement of the International Energy Agency, of which New Zealand is a current member and Chair.
As in past years we are hoping that the announcement of the annual award of the Marine Energy Deployment Fund will be made at our conference
The call for papers for this conference has resulted in some very interesting offerings on subjects as diverse as modelling tidal stream effects around tidal turbines to the concerns and interests of a construction diver. The programme will be published in mid-February.
This year’s audience will include the usual broad range of New Zealandbased interested parties with an assortment of representatives from the 18 countries, which are arguably most advanced in ocean energy. AWATEA also has a diverse range of members and they support the Association by attending the conference, which is open to non-members.
The conference thus represents a rare opportunity to advertise services and products and demonstrate your organization’s interest and commitment to marine energy, not only to New Zealanders but also to an international audience. It will also be a rare opportunity for the conference registrants to hear what is happening around the world in terms of regulation, device developments and projects.
Trade Displays
This exciting two-day event will, for the first time, include a commercial
trade display. A number of our key sponsors have already confirmed that
they will be taking up the opportunity to present their services and
projects at the Trade Display.
Sponsorship Packages
The success of the AWATEA conference is dependent on our sponsors.
Over the last three conferences we have been able to attract a range of
sponsors but we want to go further this time and secure an even broader
base.
We have already secured Foundation Sponsorship from:
Now we are looking for further sponsors to help us offer a wide range of opportunities for conference registrants. We have put together a variety of sponsorship packages, ranging from Gold Sponsorship at $10,000 to Trade Displays for AWATEA members at $500 per company.
We believe these sponsorship packages offer good value and will enable the sponsor to choose their level of commitment, commensurate with the level of exposure they wish to have. Some of the sponsorship packages offer free registration for the sponsor’s conference attendees.
