Welcome to the Aotearoa Wave and Tidal Energy Association

6th Annual Conference and Workshops

AWATEA’s 6th Annual Conference and Workshops were held in the Icon Room at Te Papa Tongarewa, Wellington on Thursday and Friday 19 & 20 April 2012.

A total of 78 registrants attended the conference and heard 19 presentations at the conference, including a very supportive introduction from Her Worship the Mayor Wellington, Celia Wade-Brown.  The following day registrants enjoyed 7 presentations on “Active New Zealand Projects and Research”, including presentations by Wave Energy Technology-New Zealand, Chatham Islands Marine Energy Limited, Tangaroa Energy and Energy Pacifica, as well as three presentations by active PhD researchers.

On the Friday afternoon the British High Commission in Wellington sponsored quick-fire presentations by 12 UK visitors, who were part of a UK – NZ Marine Energy Mission.  The High Commissioner gave a rousing presentation in support of the formation of a New Zealand Marine Energy Centre, in association with the European Marine Energy Centre in Orkney, Scotland.

Access to conference presentations
The presentations at the conference and workshop are available to all AWATEA members and to paid conference registrants.  Both groups have been sent a username and password to enable them to access the presentations.  These usernames and passwords should not be distributed to others.
